Therapeutic Service Offerings

  • Like most of us in the therapy world, it should be noted that we cannot be everything for everyone.
  • The most successful therapy happens when there is a positive trust link between patient and provider.   Should you or I at any stage during the process feel that referral would be beneficial it should not be viewed as negative but rather a mature decision to ensure that you receive the best possible intervention.
  • Understanding your boundaries and accepting your strengths and weaknesses as a therapist comes through trial and error, but after doing the work for over 20 years, I am comfortable to take on challenges in the stated areas below:

In life we are often faced with challenges and demands that impacts on our ability to be stable in our relationship with self and others.

One on one counseling sessions could be an effective tool to understand your reality and to move from it towards a new more stable situation.

The function of these sessions is to step away from the reality into a safe space where you can reflect on the issues and to learn tools to assist you with the situation and future challenges.

All work done in one on one sessions is deemed as confidential and ICD 10 coding is used for billing purposes.

Costs linked to one on one therapy can be refunded by your medical aid should this benifit form part of your selected plan.

Addiction is a disease that develops over time and many individuals notice the disease only when life around them are starting to fall apart.  Using of substances have become the social norm and this contributes to the development of the disease without anyone noticing.

Like the journey to addiction, the journey to recovery is a long hard process.  Gone are the days where people believed that 21 days in a treatment centre is all that is needed for recovery. Neurobiology has proven that addiction impacts on the way the brain functions and that 120 days without using any form of substance is needed for the brain to fully recover.  When the brain gets to the stage of recovery, life choices and continued support remain critical to stay in recovery.

The service offering for addiction care should start with a level of care assessment from where determinations can be made in terms of the need for in-patient care, with a specific focus on detox management or the effective linking to out-patient services without the need for in-patient services.

Group sessions and individual sessions sustain and support the recovery processes and this is often linked with spot testing to ensure that recovery remains on track. The support systems in the life of the substance user needs to obtain knowledge about the disease to allow them to support the user in recovery and to deal with relapse behaviour that may occur.

To move from infinity to beyond we need to make time to invest in our own development.

As a therapist I had the benefit to design numerous workshops to assist you and or your team/family with wonderful sessions that will help with your development as a human being.

Why the Red Tulip?

My husband lives with Parkinson’s disease and the red tulip is a symbol associated with Parkinson’s awareness since 1980 when a Dutch horticulturalist who had PD developed a red and white tulip and named it "Dr. James Parkinson.”
